I have three papers on the go at the moment, and whilst writing them I’ve been revisiting my Childhood — or at least the TV part of it — with 8 seasons of Full House, so today is a day you get one of my random asides..
Everyone knows what the Olsens are up to these days, and it seems they all stay in touch, but it was interesting finding out about the others..
John Stamos (Jesse) – Who I knew of because he was on one of my Dad’s Beach Boys records – has recently been in ER, which has also been cancelled. Apparently his withdrawal after season 8 and a proposed move from ABC to WB is one of the reasons for Full House’s cancellation… shame.
Dave Coulier (Joey) – Still doing stand-up and various other gigs..
Bob Saget (Danny)- Recently roasted by Paramount Comedy with Stamos and Coulier present, stage shows, TV quiz shows and the stand up circuit himself..
Candace Cameron Bure (DJ) – Seems to have found religion in a big way if her Myspace account is anything to go by. Various TV & Film work, including “Moonlight & Mistletoe” which seems to be for Hallmark Christmas 2008. Still looks/sounds like DJ though..
Jodie Sweetin (Stephanie) – Struggled with drugs as many teen stars seem to, now married, with a child and re-entering showbiz, apparently has a TV show following her life coming out (VH1 mooted) and a tell-all book which could be interesting. Still recognisable as Steph though..
Oh, Andrea Barber (Kimmy Gibbler) left showbiz and apparently now lives back in Blighty.
And so that completes our round-up of the Full House cast. I still hope for a reunion show/movie, an all grown up comedy movie would be sure to draw in the crowds, but getting everyone in the same place with the motivation to do it could be hard. But who knows, in a couple of years when the Olsens (well, I guess we only need one!) are done with University, and if the others don’t have any big projects, maybe they could spare a couple of months to give Full House fans some closure.
Back to our regularly scheduled topics soon, including Cheating in Football Manager Live (a great in-game message today saying surely it’s not cheating if the rules aren’t hard-coded), DRM systems in Football Manager (a disaster for paying customers, though it does seem to have delayed the piracy, so by some measure that’s probably success for SI/Sega), and a rant on the limits of Ludology.
